i survived mother’s day…just barely
noticing via instagram posts
that i cringe when husbands praise wives
& when i see daughters & mothers together
but am okay with sons & mothers
…hmmm
you don’t need to look twice
to see where my damage is….
but i survived
and will live to see
another
mother’s day
& maybe not be such a
train wreck
next
time….
here are some commissions i am working on. i realize, the more i ink, what my style is exactly–& i try to stay true to it.
i am excited to see how these will turn out…& hopefully the people who commissioned them will be just as excited.
and for those of you wondering about my patreon page:
You aren’t alone. Mother’s Day is hard on many of us 😦

Oh, you ink AFTER you color. This makes a lot of sense but it’s not in the order I’d imagined

this thing that i do is i brush water on the paper in the shape i want, then i spill colored ink into the water. after it dries i will do detail with both bamboo pen & ink brush and probably finish with ink pen.
it’s fun to do it this way because the first step helps shape the following steps.

That’s a really cool process, I never would have thought of that

i used to do a lot of spilled ink paintings. i think they opened me up to new ideas & a different way to ink 🙂

i describe my process as first some ink, then some more ink, add ink, and finish with ink. most things about me are messy 🙂
